Welcome to GYSF Football Tackle Parents / Players - READ THOROUGHLY GYSF is looking forward to the 2025 Season!!!

Thank you ALL for getting to The LockerRoom for the Uniform Fitting!!! We are excited to work with Mitch and his team again and hope to continue having a great experience. There are always things to tweak and we welcome your feedback to [email protected]. We highly suggest you take a moment to browse the website as pertinent season information is listed.

The Pre-draft Workout will be held Monday, June 9 -- Group Picture starts promptly @ 6pm - 745pm @ Gretna EAST High School (Turf Fields) -- 18102 Lincoln Road. CHECK-IN Begins @ 530p NO earlier. PARKING ONLY ON THE SOUTH END and All players MUST check in at the SOUTH Entrance Ticket Booth first for your respective grade. If you are unsure if you need to attend the Workout a list will be posted on the website under the Tackle Tab by Friday, June . (If a returning player, hasn’t been contacted by a coach by now, you should plan on attending the Workout) P

PARKING / PICKUP: Many people will be present so PLEASE drive safe. Please have prompt pickup. If you are UNABLE to attend, email [email protected] by THURSDAY, JUNE 5

NEED for Workout: Tshirt, shorts, cleats and Water Bottle (labeled with name) -- NO Helmets -- Drink plenty of water during the day to help with overheating and dehydration. NO FOOD, sunflower seeds, etc. on the fields and NO PETS (you will not be allowed in the complex).

3rd grade (3 teams) - 2 Legacy and 1 Metro (8man team)
4th grade (3-4 teams) - 2 Legacy and 1-2 Metro
5th grade (4-5 teams) - 3 Legacy and 1-2 Metro
6th grade (4 teams) - 2 Legacy and 2 Metro
7th grade (2 teams) - Undetermined
8th grade (2 teams) - 1 Legacy and 1 Metro

The Workout will have several stations for the players to rotate through allowing the coaches to observe. Rules have been put in place in our organization to ensure that all players get the same opportunities in the draft process and as an organization GYSF hopes to have youth in the community continue to come out for football. No Team requests will be granted. All players will be placed on a team.

The Legacy teams will be composed of our more experienced players, while the Metro teams will provide a platform for our less experienced players to develop their skills and gain valuable playing time. Our coaches will work with each player, irrespective of the team they are on, to help them realize their full potential. We are confident that this new structure will continue to improve the overall quality of our program and will also provide our players with valuable experiences and opportunities to grow both on and off the field.

We understand there may be prior commitments, but football season is just around the corner so make every effort to be there. Players will be running through several agility / fundamental stations during this time. If your player is not in attendance, they will still be included in the draft process and drawn from a hat as to which team they will be placed on.

VOLUNTEERS: We could use assistance for the check-in process for this event, please email Nikki @ [email protected]. We could use help anytime beginning @ 530pm. We will have High School players running the stations. We need assistance from ALL FAMILIES after the Workout AND all Home Games to assist in cleanup of the complex. With the continued growth of our program, GYSF is looking for volunteers to assist with many processes throughout the year. The next generation is coming up and we need to staff our board with volunteers who are dedicated to the Gretna Community. Please reach out if interested. It is a rewarding experience knowing you had a hand in Gretna’s football success!

Tackle Equipment Checkout -- Sunday, July 20 from 12p-2p @ Community Storage across from the Gretna Middle School. More information on this process will be coming. Please make EVERY effort to be at this checkout with your child so we can ensure good fitting for shoulder pads & practice pants.

First day of Practice: Friday, August 1 @ 6pm (Helmets & Shorts Only First 2 days) - Locations TBD (coach will notify you of this location closer to season start) – You are responsible for purchasing a WHITE HELMET by August 1

Mandatory Team Weigh-ins: Coach will determine the day of weighins -- Saturday, August 16 or Sunday, August 17 – NOTE: All Birth Certificates & FACE ONLY photos need to be uploaded to your account on the website if you didn’t at registration.

Camera Set Pictures: Date TBD - Jason Wheeler for Team & Individual Pictures. More information to come.

Games Begin: Sunday, August 31 (Labor Day Weekend) - All games on Sundays – Our Home field is Gretna High School Football & Soccer Field. Season Dates on Website.
